Lady Raiders ready for second half of 2020 softball season

Head coach Kyle King says preparing his 2020 version of Lady Raider softball has been tough but rewarding.

“This team has really taken the ‘team’ concept and ran with it,” King said.

His Lady Raiders stand at 14 wins and five losses at the midpoint of the season.

“Now comes the fun part of the season,” King said. “Positioning ourselves for the district and regional tourney is reward for our work ethic.”

Riverfield Raiders begin MAIS football season

I don’t guess there would be anyone to disagree that 2020 has been a very strange, difficult and challenging year.

With school attendance ending in mid-March, the teachers and students were forced to adapt to online teaching and learning.

At Riverfield campus, improvements took place, however, over an extended off season and on Aug. 5 RA students returned to school to begin the 2020/21 school year. The beginning of school always means that football season is here.

Hornets end season 27 seconds from a three-peat

Who would had thought after losing four starters from the state champions of a year ago that we would make another run for the top team in 2-A?

A lot changed but an important ingredient stayed the same and that was Damon West, Antwuan James, Ron Ellis, Billy Green and Johnnie Mack. These coaches stayed the course and produced another sterling team that went undefeated again in the district and finished with a 27-6 record.

Lady Dragons reach 10-1 after busy week on diamond

The Mangham Lady Dragons opened district play with a 10-0 shutout against Beekman March 11.

Anna Myers was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits, no runs and no walks during the five innings she was on the mound.

Mangham took a 1-0 lead when Dorothy Williamson doubled in the first inning. They added another run in the second inning, the four runs in each of the next two innings.

Dorothy Williams and Abby Pruitt each had three hits, while Morgan Cruse and Camm Neathery had two each. Maddison Thomas and Olivia Dannehl each had one hit.
