Lady Dragons reach 10-1 after busy week on diamond

The Mangham Lady Dragons opened district play with a 10-0 shutout against Beekman March 11.

Anna Myers was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits, no runs and no walks during the five innings she was on the mound.

Mangham took a 1-0 lead when Dorothy Williamson doubled in the first inning. They added another run in the second inning, the four runs in each of the next two innings.

Dorothy Williams and Abby Pruitt each had three hits, while Morgan Cruse and Camm Neathery had two each. Maddison Thomas and Olivia Dannehl each had one hit. 

The Lady Dragons continued their winning streak on March 11 by defeating the Rayville Lady Hornets 16-0.

Mangham scored all 16 runs in the first inning.

Gabrielle Riggins was the winning pitcher, striking out six of nine batters in the three innings played.

Morgan Cruse led the hitting, going two for two at bat with a home run, a double and five RBIs.

 Riggins also had a hit and three RBIs.  Dorothy Williamson and Leah Waller each had a hit.

The Lady Dragons closed out the week by defeating Ruston 15-6 on March 13.

Ruston got on the board first with a run in the first inning, but Mangham answered them with two runs of their own. 

Ruston pulled ahead with two runs in the second inning to make the score 3-1 in their favor before Mangham scored seven unanswered runs in the third inning for a 9-3 lead which they widened to 12-3 in the fourth inning. 

Both teams scored three times in the fifth inning, leaving the Lady Dragons with a 15-6 victory.

Anna Myers got the win for Mangham, striking out two players in two innings and allowing three runs on three hits.

Kara Wilcher had four his for Mangham, Cam Neathery had two and Morgan Cruse, Dorothy Williamson, Maddison Thomas, Hannah West, Gabrielle Wiggins and Leah Waller each had one.

The Lady Dragons finally suffered their first loss of the season when they faced Sterlington March 13.

Sterlington won the match 17-1 with Gabrielle Riggins scoring the only hit for Mangham in the game.
