Ellis Wayne Mills Jr.
Ellis Wayne Mills Jr.
Ellis, formerly known as Wayne, was a certified welder and enjoyed making different types of metal art. He had a “Golden Arm”, as many would say. He was a jack of all trades, there wasn’t a job too big or small, he could do them all. Wayne was considered to be a perfectionist, down to the last centimeter. Wayne owned his own trucking business where he employed a handful of people for many years. He worked for a pipeline company where he mastered heavy operations.
Ellis worked as a road deputy for the Richland Parish Sheriff Department for many years, then as a lieutenant at the Richland Parish Detention Center, where he later retired as an emergency dispatcher. Ellis really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always joking around, he loved to make people laugh until his last breath. He was a devoted husband, father and Bop-Bop.
Ellis was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent endless hours catching fish with his family. He loved playing poker; he was known as a shark. He could really read people when others couldn’t. Ellis’s cooking and grilling abilities were out of this world. He was also known as a BBQ pitmaster. Everyone loved his excellent cooking abilities.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, whom he loved dearly with all his heart, Teresa Fife Mills of Hebert; son, Brad Mills of Waverly; daughter, Jenna Mills and fiancé, Randy Romero of Marshall, AR; two grandchildren, Kayden and Brayden Mills of Marshall, AR; sister, Wendy Emmons and husband, Danny, of Hebert; and brother, Paul Mills and wife, Tissy, of Shreveport.
