Interment followed in the Start Cemetery in Start, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe.

Mr. Dark was born in Gaars Mill on December 4, 1935, and passed away with his family by his side after a brief illness, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe on March 4, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Shelby S. Dark Sr. and Lucille Terrell Dark; sister, Thelma Jane Dark Deal; and by his brother, Shelby S. Dark Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Freeland Dark; children, Randall Dark and wife, Karen, and Sherri Elmore and husband, Jody; and grandson, Colby Dark, all of West Monroe; sister, Shirley Dark Woodard Copeland of Start; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends.

Pallbearers were Jeff Dark, Fred Freeland, Gary Freeland, Troy Sandifer, Ty Seal and Shane Woodard.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class at First West.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
