Saints Alive meet in April

Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, met April 7.

This month’s gathering was well-attended and was opened by president Judy Slayter. Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered. The birthday honorees for April were also congratulated. Everyone joined to sing Happy Birthday to those turning one year younger.

The many churches represented were acknowledged, and the first time visitors welcomed.

The tables were decorated with a St. Patrick’s Day theme, thanks to Kathy Jackson and June McCartney.

The meal was hamburgers with all the trimmings.

After the meal the Pickett Sisters (actually two sisters and their niece) entertained in song. They are known for their a cappella singing which showcases their beautiful family harmony. The participants closed the evening by singing the traditional number “When the Saints Go Marching In.” It was led by Sharon Blaylock and the Pickett Sisters.

The final meeting for this season will be at 6 p.m. May 5 in the gymnasium. The meal will be a fish fry which is a Saints Alive tradition. Afterwards there will be a concert in the youth room next door. The entertainment will be provided by the Jericho Project.

Saints Alive meets during the months of October through May. Anyone 50 or over is invited to join. There are no dues for this calendar year. The meetings feature delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment/ ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit.
