RJHS students visit Grambling College of Business

RJHS students visit Grambling College of Business

Rayville Junior High School’s library club attended a workshop while on a field trip to the Grambling State University College of Business on April 2.

The purpose of this trip was to exposed students to new computer strategies relating to Excel and Database development at the Sly-IDE workshop presented by Dr. Kevin Sly, a professor in the College of Business on the campus of GSU. College of Business graduate student Ryan Stanley also presented information.

The students also had the opportunity to tour the Eddie G. Robinson Museum and learn about other famous athletes who attended Grambling State University and played football under Robinson before being drafted to the NFL.

Students also enjoyed eating lunch in McCall Dining Hall with college students.

Reading and library teacher Torrie Britton stated “Students in the library club really enjoyed the trip especially learning about the new 2025 Excel computer program along with computer AI programs. Dr. Sly gave the students so much information about how to work on computers in the digital world using operating systems and understanding new technology.”

Students attending the trip were Alyssa Dorsey, Keontae Tillery, Zylearia Wilson, Malik Gaskew, Akestia Drake, Ari Hill, Kenneth Mitchell, Tyun Dean, Donald Clark, Jasmine Gee, De’ Antonyo Richardson, JaDarrius Natt, Micheal Kelly, Hayden Henderson, Krishalynn Brown, Mackenzie Ball, Mackenzie Murray, Deadrain Cook, Kelly Briggs, Gloria Williams,T hurston Seaberry and Louisiana Green. “I would like to give a special thanks to GSU advisor and academic support Latosha Britt, GSU College of Business, GSU Business Professor Dr. Kelvin Sly, GSU graduate student Ryan Stanley, chaperones Candy Dorsey and Asia Hill, Eddie G. Robinson Museum curators and tour guide, principal Amanda Stein and bus driver Tommy Woodson,” Britton said.
