Representing Richland Parish, Elessia Clark was honored as one of the 2025 Humanitarian Award recipients when Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Epsilon Omicron Zeta Chapter hosted its inaugural Royal Blue and Pearls Scholarship Gala in Monroe.
The group honored chartering members Bobby Lawrence Butler, Barbara Wright Hawkins and Margaret Jackson Newman, as well as community leaders for their service.
For 105 years, Zeta Phi Beta has been committed to the ideals of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood, and the gala was a true reflection of these values. As Epsilon Omicron Zeta celebrated 60 plus years of impactful service since chartering in 1964, they honored those who have made a profound difference in our communities.
Known as Lisa to many, Clark is a proud native of Delhi, who has dedicated her life to serving others. Lisa’s journey in education and community service is truly inspiring.
She earned her associate’s degree in general studies from Delta Community College, with a focus on behavior and social science. She then went on to earn a bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Arizona Global Campus. She is set to graduate in May 2025 with a master’s degree in psychology from the same institution.
Lisa is deeply committed to her community. In 2013, she founded the Knowledge Is Golden Mentoring and Tutoring Program, designed to support underprivileged youth. Although her medical journey in 2017 led to a temporary pause in the tutoring aspect of the program, she has continued to nurture the mentoring side.
Knowledge is Golden Mentoring Program, provides youth of all ages with vital skills in leadership, social awareness, life skills, and community service, encouraging them to stand up for what is right. The program also reaches beyond youth, making a broader impact through community initiatives such as voter registration drives, awareness campaigns on issues like the opioid crisis, CPR training, mental health day observances, back-to-school drives, clothing giveaways, and feeding programs.
A faithful member of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church in Delhi, Lisa serves in several roles, including on the finance committee, as a steward, class leader, Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the Lillie Ross Missionary Society.
She also holds the position of conference young people division director for the Central North Louisiana Conference of the 8th Episcopal District of the AME Church.
Beyond her church, Lisa is a member of the Order of Eastern Star, currently serving as the worthy matron of Pride of Heart #8 in Tallulah, and as the associate grand matron of Queen Vashti Grand Chapter OES of Louisiana.
Lisa lives by the mantra “May the work I do speak for itself.”
Through her tireless dedication to education, service, and community, her actions truly do speak volumes.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s Epsilon Omicron Zeta Chapter congratulates Elessia Clark along with the other recipients from their respective areas: Pluma Downs, Emily Winston and Christopher Lewis representing Ouachita Parish; Randy Williams, representing Morehouse Parish; and Lois Jordan, representing Franklin Parish.
