CASA seeks volunteers to help kids in foster care

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Northeast Louisiana is calling on compassionate community members to make a lifechanging difference for children in foster care.

With more than 425 children in foster care from Northeast Louisiana, the need for dedicated volunteers to advocate for these children has never been greater. CASA of NELA provides volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates to stand by the side of abused and neglected children during their most challenging times. These volunteers ensure each child’s voice is heard and their best interests are represented in court.

“We are in dire need of new volunteers to support children during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives,” said Leslie Bryan, Outreach Specialist for CASA of NELA. “By becoming a CASA volunteer, you have the opportunity to change a child’s story and provide hope for a brighter future.”

To meet this urgent need, CASA of NELA will offer new volunteer training classes every week throughout April. These comprehensive training sessions prepare volunteers to effectively advocate for children in the foster care system, ensuring their safety, permanency, and well-being.

No prior experience is required to become a CASA volunteer. CASA of NELA seeks communityminded individuals with a heart for children who are willing to commit time and energy to make a lasting impact.

“Our community has the power to make a profound difference,” Bryan added. “Every child deserves a safe, permanent home, and our volunteers play a critical role in helping achieve that goal.”

If you are ready to make a difference, visit www. casaofnela.og or contact 318-398-0945 to learn more and register for upcoming training sessions. Together, we can change a child’s story.

CASA of NELA is a division of The Center for Children and Families, dedicated to recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children in Northeast Louisiana. Through advocacy and support, CASA volunteers help ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, loving home.
