Fire department offers public free smoke detectors

Fire department offers public free smoke detectors
Rayville Fire Captain Billy Cardin displays some of the smoke detectors available at the Rayville Fire Department. Anyone in need of a detector is asked to contact Rayville Fire Department at 318-728-7515 or their local fire department for more information.

The Rayville Fire Department has free smoke detector for residents and is ready to install them through the Louisiana Fire Marshall’s Operation Save a Life program.

Operation Save a Life allows the State Fire Marshal’s Office to partner with local fire departments and give away free smoke alarms to put into homes.

Acting Fire Chief Billy Boren said it is a public service campaign designed to increase awareness and educate consumers about the dangers of fire, its related hazards and how to prevent them.

The initiative aims to reduce fire-related injuries and deaths by providing smoke alarms to vulnerable communities and citizens, with support from local fire departments.

To learn more about the program, or to register for a free smoke alarm installation, visit lasfm.org or contact your local fire department to request a free smoke alarm installation.

Operation Save-A-Life was created to combat the rise in fire related injuries and deaths due to home fires in our great state.

The goal of this statewide initiative is to dramatically reduce these fire related injuries and deaths across the State of Louisiana by providing smoke alarms to vulnerable citizens and at-risk communities with the help of your local fire department.
