Internships available

College students who are rising juniors, seniors or grad students who are enrolled in agriculture and natural resources, nutrition, family and consumer sciences, extension education or a related field are encouraged to apply.

The goal of the internship is to prepare participants for careers in agriculture and extension. The programs will accept 20 applicants who will spend the summer working alongside extension educators learning how to plan and conduct extension programs.

“This initiative is an awesome opportunity to obtain an up close and personal exposure to extension and outreach and engage with a dynamic group of agents and faculty and the stakeholders we serve,” said Tara Smith, LSU Ag-Center executive associate vice president and director of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service. “The program has yielded wonderful successes and is serving as a vital pipeline for future extension professionals.”

Interns must submit an application and go through an interview process. They will complete a project, report and video highlighting their experience.

Interns may work with the college advisor to potentially receive college credit for the internship.

Interns will receive $15 an hour and will work for eight to 10 weeks.

Applications are open until March 15.
