Remembering our past...

Wilber Kline

The Kline family has been a part of Richland Parish’s history for as long as anyone can remember. Stephen Kline bought a whole block of land in the area being developed by Mr. Wiley Mangham, owner and editor of the Richland Beacon- News in about 1886. He also built the first cotton gin in Mangham as well as a grist mill, a stave mill and a shingle mill. His two sons, Wilber and Howard, were involved in all of these operations and Wilber, shown here, was instrumental in the railroad coming through the town. Wilber was the person who named the town of Mangham after the developer. There is a 29-page story of the Kline Klan, a DVD of pictures and a 16-foot wall chart about the Kline Klan genealogy in the branch library in Mangham. The photograph is the collection of Stephen Kline’s great grandson, Wilbur Kline.
