Saints Alive, a ministry of First Baptist Church, met on Dec. 2.
This month’s gathering was opened by our president Judy Slayter.
Prayer requests were received, and prayer was then offered by Fred Lambert. The birthday honorees for December were also congratulated. Everyone joined to sing Happy Birthday to those turning one year younger. The churches represented in the meeting were acknowledged.
The theme was Christmas, of course, which was reflected in the decor. The meal featured a selection of sandwiches with side dishes and desserts.
The special event of the evening was an auction featuring many donated items, including artwork and delicious homemade goods. Among the latter were sour dough bread, pecan pies and rocky road. Tim Allen proved to be an entertaining auctioneer. The money raised was for Rhymes Memorial Library’s annual wreaths for the Veterans Cemetery. The participants closed the evening by singing the Saints Alive theme song “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
This month’s meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Jan. 6. The meal will be chili, hot dogs and fritos. The featured entertainment will be the Pickett Sisters.
Saints Alive meets during the months of October through May. Anyone 55 or over is invited to join. There no dues for this calendar year. The meetings feature delicious meals, wonderful Christian entertainment and ministry and the best fellowship ever. Come for a visit.
