Seed฀sweet฀potato orders฀available฀

It’s time to place your order for seed sweet potatoes for the 2025 growing season.

The deadline to order is Feb. 3, and deadline to pickup is March 15. You can pick up directly from the Sweet Potato Research Station or your order at your order can be dropped off at the local extension office. Please indicate pickup details when you order.

G(0) foundation plants will be available for purchase this year from station greenhouses but amounts and timing will need to be coordinated closely. Bedded G(2) plants, will be available in late spring as well. Please contact Cole Gregorie at 318-435-2155 for more details on plant availability.

“We will also arrange for grade-outs to be sold if available,” Gregorie said. “The quantities of gradeouts will vary depending on the packout rate.”

Orleans, Bayou Belle, Burgundy and Murasaki are subject to license fees. The minimum fee per year for Louisiana growers is $500 per variety with an exemption of the first 250 acres for any per acre fee.

After acre 250 the fee is $15 per acre for Orleans and Bayou Belle and $25 per acre for Bellevue and Avoyelles.

The license fee must be paid when the seed is picked up.

The price of the bin will be included on the invoice. New bins will be invoiced at $85 each. If older or damaged bins are moved off station, AgCenter will prorate the bin fee.

“It is extremely important that we receive all orders by the deadline, so that we may proceed with the allocation and move any additional seed in a timely manner,” Gregorie said. “Please make copies of the enclosed order form to complete your individual orders.
