A school shooting threat at Start Elementary School turned out to be a prank on Monday.
Richland Parish Sheriff Neal Harwell said at approximately 3 p.m., the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a student saying there was a school shooter on campus of Start Elementary. RPSO responded to the school at which time it was discovered a prank phone call had been placed.
Deputies were able to trace the call to an 11-yearold student who admitted placing the call on a dare. The student was arrested and later released to his parents. He was charged with one count terrorizing and one count fake communication with intent to cause an emergency response.
Extra patrols will be at the school for the next several days.
