Donald Trump was named the 47th president of the United States late Tuesday night.
Trump defeated Kamala Harris by a 51 percent margin with 71,577,105 votes to her 66,718,973. As of Wednesday morning, he also had 277 electoral college votes to her 224.
Louisiana voters favored Trump by 64 percent with 66,718,973 votes to Harris' 551,022.
No other candidate managed to get one percent of the vote.
In Richland Parish, Trump carried 69 percent with 6,354 votes to Harris' 2,732. Again, no other candidate gained one percent of the vote.
Fellow Republican Julia Letlow was re-elected at the U. S. Representative for the 5th Congressional District by a 63 percent margin.
Statewide, she recived 190,412 votes compared to 78,659 (26 percent) for Democrat Michael Vallien Jr. and 33,323 (11 percent) for Republican M.V. "Vinny" Mendoza.
Letlow carried Richland Parish by 77 percent with 6,813 votes while Vallien received 20 percent with 1,785 votes and Mendoza got 252 votes for 3 percent.
In local races, Rayland Trisler was elected as Constable in Justice of the Peace Ward 2 with 1,663 votes while Jeffery McDonald got 872 votes.
The race for alderman in the Town of Mangham was sent to a runoff election with no candidate gaining 50 percent of the vote.
Nikki Mooney and Cade Bonvillian will face each other in December. Mooney had 42 percent with 94 votes while Bonvillian had 34 percent with 76. Blake Marchbank recieved 23 percent of the vote with 52 ballots.
In addition, CA No. 1 passed by a 72 percent margin. Statewide 1,079,503 voted yes while 421,551 voted no. In Richland Parish, it passed by 60 percent with 5,065 yes votes and 3,351 no votes.
