Police Report

Rayville Police Chief Markus Turner announced the Rayville Police Department made the following criminal arrests for the week of Aug. 5-19.

• Theft less than $1,000 (three counts) and simple Criminal Trespass.

• Driving under suspension (two counts) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

• Possession of Schedule II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Disturbing the peace by fighting (two counts).

• Shoplifting.

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 29 traffic citations this week. That number includes 26 for speeding, two for expired/cancelled license plate and one for no driver’s license in possession.

Chief Markus Turner and his team extend a warm welcome to all students and staff as they return to school.

Chief Turner expresses gratitude for the presence of officers at every school to assist with traffic and provide a welcoming presence. He emphasizes the importance of hard work in the upcoming school year and underscores the value of education as the foundation for future success.

Chief Turner reassures all schools that despite the presence of a School Resource Officer on campus, he and his staff remain readily available and encourage anyone in need to reach out for assistance.
