Police Report

Rayville Police Chief Markus Turner announced the Rayville Police Department announced the following activity for the week of July 29 through Aug. 5.

Three criminal arrests were made for resisting arrest by flight, theft less than $1,000 and simple criminal trespass

The Rayville Police Department issued a total of 28 traffic citations this week. That number includes 21 for speeding and one each for improper window tint, improper turn, failure to stop, no proof of insurance, driving under suspension, failure to carry registration and no driver’s license in possession.

Chief Turner wants to remind everyone that it is important to show respect for the court, the Judge, and the legal proceedings through your actions and appearance. At no time will you be allowed to enter while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 

The chief states if you are not admitted for entry it is your responsibility to address any problem, fix it and return to enter.

Please take note of the following requirements for the Town of Rayville Municipal Courtroom entry:

Failure to meet the following criteria may result in denial of entry by court officials.

• Arrive on time to respect the court’s schedule.

• Dress in attire suitable for a casual business setting. Town of Rayville Municipal Court dress code prohibits: “t-shirts, tank-tops, tube-tops, cut-offs, shorts or other inappropriate clothing.”

• Remove hats before entering the courtroom.

• Switch off cell phones before entering the courtroom.

• Behave courteously and professionally towards all individuals involved in the proceedings, including the Judge, court staff, opposing litigants and attorneys.

• Refrain from interrupting others while they are talking.

• Address the Judge as “Your Honor.”

• Stand up when thejudge and jury enter and leave the courtroom.

• Stand when speaking to the judge.

• No food or beverages are permitted in the courtroom.

• In most cases, children are not allowed in the courtroom unless instructed by the Judge.
