Mangham loses 34-32 heartbreaker to Jena Giants

Last Friday night kicked off the first week of high school football in Louisiana.

The Mangham Dragons traveled to Jena to take on a very strong Jena team. The atmosphere was so electric the season opener felt like a playoff game.

The Dragons headed into halftime with a lead of 24-14. They would go on to score and get a two point conversion to start the second half. The Giants, however, never stopped answering. Mangham lost a heartbreaker 34-32.

The young Mangham offense and defense played extremely well, and if you were not at this game, you missed out on a good one.

Quarterback Austin Lively completed 15 of 28 passes with 128 yards. Isiah McFarland ran 26 times for 140 yards with four touchdowns. Robert Natt had three receptions and 46 yards.

The Dragons will host the Sterlington Panthers at 7 p.m. Friday night.
